No not really. Theres beginner, intermediate and advanced ballet classes you dance ur way through until u gain experience. You need to take classes until you are experienced enough in ballet to be able to manage the tecnique and dynamics of pointe. When you go onto pointe your feet have to be strong enough to maintain proper form and if ur feet arent ready, injury will occurr. It really isnt a matter of how many classes you take before going onto pointe, its about how much disipline you have through ballet to have proper form and the strength you have throughout your body (especially ur feet) to advance into pointe. Your dance instructer should tell u if u are ready. Then its like starting over as a beginner again.

Yes. Depending on which method you study, (RAD, Cecchetti, Borovansky) there are different grades.

They usually are pretty similar to school- with pre primary, primary, 1,2,3,4,5,6 then you move onto majors. There is no pointe work until the majors, of which there are usually three. From there you can move onto either a performance strand or a teaching strand. You can however take 'open' lessons, which are not of any grade, however these are done with the understanding of all grades having been completed.

Might I suggest Cecchetti as it has by far the nicest lines and shapes!
Yes, usually you have to be at least 12 before you can start pointe because your feet are still growing before that and so that there strong enough and stuff. Then you should also have to take at least 4 years of ballet before you can start a begining pointe class.
Yes there are different classes and levels before you go on pointe. I was in ballet levels 1, 2, and are in ballet level 3 and are on pointe. I think ballet levels go 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 at my school there is creative dance, preballet, ballet 1, ballet 2, ballet 3, ballet 4, ballet 5, ballet 6, then there is professional.
