I just started ballet and doing the 5 positions but how can i "turn out" right" witho

Think about turning out with your thighs and your feet will gradually turn out with it. Don't think about making it as good as possible. You might damage your knee. Also, make sure as you turn out, your feet aren't rolling in, otherwise, you could damaging your turn out.

Turn out from the hip, and don't force it, it will come in time.

your turnout will get better with time. don't try to turn your feet out at a 180掳 angle. 90掳 is good enough.
it takes a while to get used to but after dance ice ur knees adn u will eventually get used to it
If your knees hurt, you're doing it wrong. Saying that you need to turn out from the hip is only partially right; the rotator muscle is actually in your lower butt. My daughter started ballet with a teacher who also said to turn out from the hip and I wound up taking her to all the local sports medicine doctors to deal with tendonitis in her knees. She finally learned from a physical therapist what she was doing wrong.

Please don't listen to anyone here, even me, about how to turn out correctly. If you don't have a top-notch ballet teacher, preferably one who has danced professionally, you stand a very good chance of winding up with knee issues. You have to be properly SHOWN how to turn out correctly. If you're using the correct muscles, you'll see for yourself how your knees properly line up over your feet when turned out.
There are some turn out tips here:

which might help but DON'T force it!

I'm 35 years old and love ballet, do you think I'm too old to take ballet lessons?

If ballet is what's in your heart then you should go for it, and just remember you're never to old to do anything.

GO FOR IT!
as long as you dont walk with a cane, and you feel that frisky feeling down in your gut when you think about that kind of thing, you're never to old. go for it!!
No. You're never old enough to LEARN more in your life.

Do it.
You are never too old to do anything.
your never to old to try the things you love.
NO! You can teach an old dog new tricks! Just be careful! Stretch slowly, and don't overdo it! I'm older than you, and I just started taking violin lessons. You CAN teach an old dog new tricks. Have fun!!!
not too old to take lessons....maybe a little late to preform professionally
No, not at all.

It is probably going to be a lot more difficult for you at your age compared to someone starting out as a toddler, but anything is possible.

If nothing else, it's probably very healthy and quite the workout to do ballet.

Good luck.

Buddhadan
you can do anything, you are still young.

However forsake any dreams of becomin a prima ballerina at your age your suppleness is on the wane.

But don't give up your dreams of learning, give it a try and see how you get on otherwise you will regret it.

Have fun, live life, Enjoy.

Take the classes! Have some fun, get some good muscle work in, and enjoy the fluidity of movement that only ballet offers. As far as a career is concerned, though, ballet dancers usually start before they hit 10 or 11, and their bodies develop a certain way - and by 35 or 40, their career is pretty much over considering the incredible physical demands of a career. That's not to say you can't enjoy it in moderation right now and for years to come, though! Go for it.
No, not at all, I think that if your passionate about something you should go for it!!!

God gave us all talents, he gave us a spirit.

There is no black and white for talent, there is no "politically correct" for spirit, and there is certainly no rules to say that someone is too old or too young for ballet!
you shouldnt have a major problem as long as you dont get ahead of yourself. make sure your instructor monitors how soon you go on pointe though, as certain muscles need to develop in a way that can only be through years of dance so that could take a while before you are ready. other than that just go for it and have a good time.
You have just decided to keep yourself healthy and will lead a better life....
You are never too old to do something you have an interest in. If you are intending to advance far enough to dance on pointe you would need to get your feet examined by a podiatrist to see if they had the strength to do so, as the young ones usually spend about 10 years working on their technique to get their feet ready for this and at 35 it may not be possible for your feet to do so. But it isn't necessary to dance on pointe to get pleasure from ballet. you could also look at doing modern dance or contemporary.
Do some yoga in addition to ballet classes - it will help your focus, balance and flexibilty.

Do ballet as a way of expressing yourself, your inner grace, and

your body. Yoga will also help you feel more 'in' your body on a daily basis so you'll get more from your ballet classes.

You're never too old, and who the heck says 35 is old?! Damn them...! It's for you, and your feeling of 'YOU'. The more you feel like 'you' the younger you'll feel anyway. ; )
What does age have to do with ballet?

Go for it !!!
no, most studio's offer adult ballet classes
If you have any health problems ask your doctor what he/she thinks. If not - go for it, but don't push it too hard. Some of those positions are murder!
not at all
Ballet is a wonderful form of exercise, with total body warm-up and stretching --not to mention the coordination needed for the center work. Most older Americans need to start some sort of gentle exercise such as ballet or water exercises to help prevent osteoporosis or at least slow it down. Women benefit from this exercise because it is easier on the body (and fun because of the music)--helps prevent those hip fractures that many older women incur. You are building a little muscle (not nearly as bulky as other forms of exercise when taught correctly) which will help those hip injuries.

I am a teacher who has been involved with ballet for over 40 years. I am still dancing quite a bit and enjoying strong bones--it's also great for the psyche.

What is the ballet that Billy performs in at the end of "Billy Elliot"?

Do you like ballet? Why/?

There's a certain exhilirating feeling I get after dancing, whether it's onstage, in class or just practice. It's a combination of the adrenaline running through my body, the knowledge I am using my body to create wonderful art and something else that I really can't identify.

That doesn't describe it very well. It's sort of a wordless joy that I feel whenever I dance. It's enough to make me put up with the pain and the annoyances and the practices and all the hardships that ballet can cause.

I like watching ballet performances because I love seeing other dancers feeling that way and showing it through their dancing.

Do you like ballet? Why/?theater

Actually, I love dancing (not necessarily ballet). Ballet demonstrates beauty and poise but I think it is kind of boring. I would much rather doing something like tap or jazz because you get to move around more. Dancing is a good way to express yourself if you do not have a singing voice. It is a good activity to do to keep you busy and it is great if you like being in front of a crowd. I enjoy it a lot but it had it's negatives also. Dancing takes hours of practice every week and you have to exersize constantly and lift weights or do something to keep your muscles strong and flexible so you can eaisily perform your routine.

I love to watch ballet...the grace and beauty of the movement and the stories in ballet touch me. I do not like to participate in ballet, the repetative nature of ballet is boring to me.
Yes, because it's a beautiful art form, It's like a fairly tail from your childhood come to life, visually its so beautiful, the costumes, the music, it makes you feel as if your living in a fairly tail for two hours, it makes your troubles go away for a little bit, and that's something we all could use. !!!!!!!! I usually feel good after I see one.
I love "The Nutcracker". I also admire the physical condition of ballet dancers, they are in excellent shape and haven't a shred of fat on them.
yes because
I used to like ballet, but now that I am 13, it has gotten very boring and slow paced at this dance school. i like faster dances like hip hop and tap better

You can travel with a company, theatre (music theatre using a lot of dancing) or ballet. You can become a choreographer for traveling companies or for movies or even Broadway.

You can open up your own dance studio or become a teacher at a current one.
