to continue turning? i think that could be a certain number of things, if the prep is before the turn, it's a pencil turn, it could also be a Fouett茅 where you put your leg out in a middle of a turn to continue turning, try going online to a dance site so you can read a definition on the turn.

i jsut got these flats over the weekend and i wore them for 2 days so far...its pretty comfortable exept at the back. because the heel( gold patent) is higher than regular flats so it hurts my ankles...will it go away if i keep on wearing it?

Patent leather is a man-made material and does not stretch, so the heel will not be broken-in. However, I'm not sure what the rest of the shoe is made of; if it's made from a stretchable fabric (suede, leather, etc.) maybe after some time that part of the shoe will stretch and make the heel feel a bit more comfortable.

In the meantime, I recommend Dr. Scholls heel liners (http://www.drscholls.com/product.aspx?pr... ) band-aids just don't cut it in terms of padding, plus they'll look tacky if they peek out of your lovely Juicy Couture shoes!

Yea probably, you got to wear them in. And u can also get these cool nylon short socks that look great with ballet flats.
try adding some extra cusioning to the back. bandaid, or some taped on tissue paper may help! good luck%26lt;3

probably... until then put a big skin colored bandage there so your skin wont peel and no one will notice it... put it on both heels... and they are so cute so good luck and awsome buy!

Most shoes are like that when you first buy them. After a week or so of wearing them, you should break them in and they will fit better and stop hurting your heels. Until then, you might want to think of something to put between your ankle and the shoe to reduce the friction...try bandaids (clear or skin toed, you dont want to ruin the look of your new shoes with bandaids) or attach a cotton ball to the inside of the heel. Unless you can take the pain, or you dont get blisters easily.
yes they will, but untill then you gan get like little pad things for the back of heels, that you can put on those flats. you can get them at targer, and select shoestores.

Do you mean the back bit where it comes up and presses on your ankle? I had some shoes that did this and I tried stretching them, but eventually I stopped wearing them cos they hurt. I'd wear them at home with thick socks to see if this stretches them a bit so you can wear comfortably.
You need to break them in. It'll go away soon.

Professional ballet dancers go through a pair or MORE of pointe shoes for EACH show. It's not a matter of getting them to last, it's a matter of perfection. They want perfect pointe shoes each time they dance that are perfectly broken in for their purposes. So company contracts for all but the trainees (in some companies) provide free pointe shoes.

And it's not the box that gives out first, it's the shank. Break it at just the right spot and your foot will look beautifully arched. But soon afterwards, a broken shank will not offer the right support.

How often do you dance? Pro dancers dance every day for hours. If you only dance a few times a week...that would be why.

Give me thumbs down all you want, Pro dancers dance more than five hours a day five days a week, hate to tell you, sweetie.
Your always on your toes, don't you think 8 hours of dancing a day would wear out any shoe.
The probably use shoes with a much softer cushion due to them being on point all the time to protect their feet better. Being professionals they'd rather spend big money on shoes over foot surgery.

Or they change their shoes often because new shoes afford more protection.

Or they wear there shoes out faster because they dance a lot more.

Well pro dancers dance up to 8 hours each day!!!! They are totaly dedacated to dance. Their pointe shoes have a very short life because they dance so much. It also depends oh how well you take care of you pointe shoes. If you don't let you pointe shoes out to dry, if you are wet they could reshape and be distroyed. You must take really good care of you pointe shoes, keep up the good work!!!!

i take dance classes and i think you should take the class with the younger people with same experience. you'll feel much more confident and less intimidated by people who have done ballet longer than you. it may feel weird at first but at least you'll be on the same level as the others and will be learning with them. As long as youre having fun and enjoy the class it doesnt matter how old everyone else is. and the younger people may look up to you :]

I think you could learn alot from the peeps that are more experienced than you. And don't feel bad about your lack of expereince because remember, they were once beginners, too.
well u should take da class that good 4 you i doubt it matter if you go in a class w/ kids younger then u beside there there for the same reason as u and ballet is really fun i did it when i was little but know i don't have time but do whats good 4 u
well if they all have the same experience, then go with your age group.
u'd probably feel really awkwierd (yes i meant to spell it that way) dancin w/ little kiddies, and that would hinder ur confidence and maybe mess up ur dancin. i'd go with the class of more experienced ppl so u could get tips from them. im gonna do dance
you could always try one of each level class and then decide from there.
it depends on your personality. if your the kind of person who watches people doing something perfectly but you're having trouble with, and try to see what they're doing differently to help you, or the kind of person who sees people better then them and pushes to be at least just aas good as them, you should take the class with the people with more experience. but if you watch people doing something that you're struggling with perfectly and get jealous or frustrated because you can't do it, take the class with the younger and less experienced people
i started late , in a class with people my age that have been doing ballet for 10 years and ive pretty much caught up with them.so i think u should choose the class with peeps the same age as u.

I took gymnastics since I was three. I stopped about age 12. Played sports in school, then my senior year, i decided I wanted to dance. I started competing and dancing ballet, jazz, tap, and acro at age 17. I danced when I went to college and stopped at 24. I'm now 35 and last year I started teaching hip hop and acro in a local dance studio. They also have an adult class which I take regularly. So, I get my weekly dose of ballet as well as the other areas of dance.

The reason I started dancing was for the love of music. I was a vocal major in school and did musicals, so I thought it would be cool and fun. Obviously it still is fun.
